Short jobs: hire

Under about three months, hiring is the cheapest way in. You pay the weekly rate, the bond comes back, and we handle delivery and pickup.

Long jobs: buy or finance

A single toilet on hire costs roughly $5,700 a year — more than the $4,500 + GST purchase price. Past ~10 months, owning is cheaper and you keep the asset.

Costs people forget

Delivery both ways, the cleaning fee, and pump-out servicing on chemical portaloos. Rhyno units are plumbed, so there's no recurring service charge.

Common questions about portable toilet costs

How much does it cost to hire a portable toilet in NZ?

Rhyno weekly hire is $110 + GST for a single toilet, $160 + GST for a double, $190 + GST for a toilet & shower unit, $320 + GST for a lounge & bathroom cabin and $65 + GST for a mini container. Delivery, a refundable bond and an end-of-hire cleaning fee are on top.

Is there a minimum hire period?

Yes. Toilets and toilet & shower units have a 3-week minimum, mini containers 4 weeks and lounge & bathroom cabins 8 weeks.

What extra fees apply to portable toilet hire?

A refundable bond is taken at the start of hire and returned when the unit comes back in the condition it went out. A fixed cleaning fee applies at the end of hire, and delivery and pickup are quoted separately on distance and site access.

Is it cheaper to buy or hire a portable toilet?

Hiring wins for jobs of a few weeks to a few months. A single toilet at $110 + GST a week costs roughly $5,720 a year in hire, which is more than the $4,500 + GST purchase price — so on any job running past about 10 months, buying outright or financing from $32 a week is cheaper, and you keep the asset.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery is quoted per job because it depends on distance from our Auckland (Penrose) or Christchurch yard and how much room the hiab has on site. Pickup from either yard is free if you can transport and load it yourself.

Do portable toilets need servicing?

Rhyno units are plumbed, so they connect to mains or tank water and to a sewer, septic or holding tank rather than needing a pump-out service like a chemical portaloo. That removes the recurring service charge most hire quotes include.
